I am afraid I will not be able to participate in the next TC re: OERC due to a medical appointment that had to be made at short notice. Please accept my apologies.

I did have a few thoughts about the teaming agreement which are as follows:

My comments:

Might be useful to have some introductory statements about each of the involved partners and why a teaming agreement would be valuable.

The “solution: offered is MedicalBridge, although iPath is mentioned as being “exposed” within Medical Bridge. Being unfamiliar with MedicalBridge, I do not understand this. It also tends to “beg the question” as to why a teaming agreement is required – hence the need to justify this. It might be useful for the non-informatician to give a brief outline of MedicalBridge in layman’s language.

The need for “content” relevant to the countries with limited resources might be emphasized.

How does “Medical Bridge” differ in concept from caBIG, and to what extent does it complement caBIG or could it be made interoperable with caBIG elements? This could be a question asked by NIH given the funding already expended on caBIG.

Hope this is helpful,

Ian

Since the website www.oerc-international.org is based on Joomla it has many email newsletter mailing list management and content management extensions that are either free or a one-time fee. They automatiically pull information off the site or wiki and allow you to target different sections of your mailing list. I use iContact for my synagogue email newsletters and decided on that one because their non-profit rates are much better than the other services and their templates, analytics, and blogging capabilities were stronger.

The only issue that comes up is the batch upload from Portals. I'll wait to hear on this. Meanwhile, I'll see whether I can get other contributions.

The first website listed on this page is no longer working. The second site seems unrelated to us.

Vic Vuchic and I had further discussions about OERC.

(a) Hewlett will consider separate funding for OERC session at INCTR annual meeting in Turkey in March 2009 in the context of OERC. Anil will discuss with Ian Magrath to get a fresh Letter of Interest to Hewlett specifically for funding for the Turkey meeting.

(b) Hewlett will get back late-September on their strategy for OER in Health resulting from the Washington consultation. Anil is scheduled to further discuss OER in Health strategy next week with Cathy Casserly of Hewlett.

(c) Hewlett has suggested that OERC proposal is sent to them in early January. This will be for the larger 18-24 month OERC implementation. The proposal will be put up for the Hewlett board meeting in March. This decision to postpone is because of Hewlett's decision to develop a comprehnsive OER in Health strategy.

September 3, 2008: Anil spoke to Vic Vuchic about (a) separate funding request for OERC session at INCTR Turkey meeting in March 2009; (b) working a timeline for OERC proposal; and (c) our intention to submit a full proposal for funding for 1-year.

We need to make our OERC Wiki as productive tool as possible and in the process develop our Wiki skills. I would be grateful for your inputs.
